Shot to test and learn the Canon remote flash control in manual mode.
Works great, as long as the slave can see the master…

I shot today’s photo quite late in the evening, so decided to build a quick bokeh setup.
Butterflies created using white Christmas tree lights and the bokeh master’s set.
The out of focus wire between the lights created an illusion of evaporating coffee.

There’s definitely some potential in this idea, I have to spend a little bit more time experimenting next time.

058/365 – 2010-02-27

Attended a London Strobist Meetup today. The focus this time was on product and closeup photography, using off camera flash.

As you can see, we had a lot of fun ;-)

Strobist info: I shot a couple of frames with available light (this one being technically the poorest), but for this particular one my shutter happened to be open to capture the flashes going off for the actual photo being taken by the fellow Strobist on the left hand side of the frame.

Something a bit different today. A setup shot for the actual photo above.

It’s time to pack away all the winter gear for now. While doing that, I quickly put together a little “Alien” ;-)

Strobist info: Single 580 EX into a 60cm softbox, as seen in the photo. Camera position is exactly the same as for the actual shot, just zoomed out to the limit.

I also masked out the messy bedroom ;-)

Remember “Finding Nemo”? Well, I just found “NEMO” in the least suspected place: on the side of the One Pound coin.
As it turns out Nemo is Latin for “nobody, no one” and in this context is part of the “Nemo me impune lacessit” motto (No one attacks me with impunity).

You will also find, that different One Pound coins have different inscriptions on them.

Shot with available light (desk lamp) and some white paper used as a reflector to bring out the details on the shadow side of the coin.

Strobist info: since the iPhone is a tricky thing to light, I surrounded it with small white reflectors and fired a 580 EX from high camera right into the highest reflector positioned on the left. Hope it makes some sense…
